Hello again friends,

It's been a while, mainly because I was way too busy at the office, but now I'm again starting to make upgrade plans.
Could you recommend me some good tyres both for asphalt and off-road? I was thinking about BF Goodrich T/A but from what I've seen they only have 245/70 R17 and 225/70 R16.
In the case of the 17 ones do you think they will rub against the plastic wheel cover? Does anyone fited 245 tyres (of any producer) on GV?
Do you have other recommendations for tyres? I'm not looking for "hard-core off-road tyres" since the car is also my commute car (and more important my wife's too! ) but rather a mix.

Also, what about a CB station strong enough to transmit/receive in the woods too, not only on road? Here the legal power is 4W, is this enough for off road use?

As for the BF T/A tyrew you are on the correct path, son!
What dimension are you thinking of fitting? A 245mm width is way too much, I reckon!


A CB station is just fine for small convoys! This is what the majority of us uses. We talk on RUD ch29 AM (or FM depending on conditions)...

As far as I can tell they don't rub the inside even at full turn but I'm not sure about 245s!
The problem as I see it is that BF doesn't make either 225 or 235 in R17 version. Only size that would fit is 225/70 R16, but that would mean I have to get some rims too.

The CB is used here mainly to warn each other about police's radar traps but I'd take it to communicate with the park rangers if in trouble. However, I'm not sure if a standard 4W unit would do.

As for this, the way I see it, is that wider the tyre he more intense that effect will be! If you think about it, it makes sense, since the inside part of a wide tyre comes more into contact with the road. Anyway, this uneven rubbing has not been reported by any any member in this forum, as far as I can remember...

Take a look at (Vasilis' comment) The whole topic is about what brand and type of tyres we have. On top there is a poll about this matter.

I was also talking about a standard 4W CB station above. I dont know whether you'll be able to communicate with rangers; this is a matter you have to see with the forest service of your area... Here we use the CB's to communicate among us, during excursions in convoys up to max. 30 vehicles.

From what I've seen AT2 have a profile which is quite close to BFGs but I don't seem to find them at the dealers here.
