Grand Vitara 1.6 spare parts in Greece

hello dear vitara owners,
I'm currently visiting Greece from for 11 days. I have a grand vitara 1.6 manual
(Not so common in my country..) and I cracked my front differential case 2 weeks ago.
I see suzuki's everywhere here, mostly vits. so I guess I might find some answers and perhaps some spare parts to carry home with me:
1. How do you address the problem of the fragile front axle in our car?
I was in a 2nd hand parts place near Tricala today, i bought the housing but the guy there told me that in Greece only aluminum cases can be found..I bought it, but I'm afraid to crack it again.
2. I'm currently in Zagorya area, are there any places I can find more 2nd hand parts? I will be in Ioannina area for the next few days. Can someone help me find me a place around? I think I should have bought also 5.125 corona and pinion which are not so heavy. How much should they cost here?

Hey man!
Too bad you cracked the case, but it's a very common damage. Have a look at a same case . No worries it's from a Vit, same weak point. The one you need to be equipped with is from cast iron (greek: mademi) but it's true that it is insanely difficult to find one. And if you find it, the cost's kinda high!!

As for your second question I have no clue cause i'm from Athens and i have no idea what's going on, on the north concerning spare parts. A local member, will help you with that.

The best 2nd hand shop for Suzuki 4x4 vehicle parts at Northern Greece is Theologis at Thessaloniki. The thing is that Thessaloniki is about 260km away from Ioannina (approx. 2.5hrs of driving). Nevertheless I am giving you his location info: he's located on Panorama exit at Thessaloniki ringroad. Below you can see his location on the map. His tel is 00302310300737.



If anyone else know something near Ioannina, it would be best for you... Parhaps vitara-gas can help? Kosta? Anything in Arta?


Lastly, a cast iron front diff. housing is a bit difficult to find.... It's a "rare" part since a lot of people seek for it

A a very common picture I see once a week in my country..
Luckily, I only cracked the housing (not the carrier) at the front and not broke it (without damage to the internal parts, I hope ..)
The oil kept dripping for a few days. But i will only know That for sure once the diff will be removed and inspected.
I've found an iron cast in the UK which I hope that will fit.
Have anyone here tried fitting xl7 / samurai axle to vit/gv? Have you tried to weld the broken aluminum?
